- With the wrapping of Pocket Gamer Connects over in London, we got hands-on with some top releases
- One that grabbed our attention was the word-based puzzler WordPix
- In it, you figure out the particular words required from simple images
Some of you may know that we recently wrapped up our sister site’s regular conference, Pocket Gamer Connects London. But what you may not have known is how that gave us a first-hand look at some very interesting new releases, and one in particular that caught editor Dann Sullivan’s eye was WordPix!
The gameplay of WordPix is very simple. You’re presented with a selection of images and then have to guess the word associated with them. A scaly reptile may be a Lizard, whereas a particular rodent is of course a Capybara. As far as the concept goes it’s not exactly brain-busting, but it’s a good way to flex your mental muscles on the go.
WordPix also boasts a variety of modes to ensure that you don’t get bored. Whether that’s the seemingly prerequisite of both solo and multiplayer, or Beat the Boss challenges for those who want to pit their wits against the computer. Naturally, there are also a few daily challenges with Word of the Day and Quote of the Day, as well as Sudoku mode, ensuring there’s plenty to enjoy.
Pix your nose
It’s easy to see why this grabbed Dann’s attention, as WordPix has everything you’d want from a puzzler. Simple, clean and readable UI and graphics, a relatively easy concept that ramps up in challenge and plenty of twists on it to keep you playing. I only hope that we’ll see more additions from the developers as it hits its global launch this year to bring in even more players. For now, those in the US and UK can play on iOS while UK Android users can also join the fun.
