The race for AI chip dominance is one of the hottest battlegrounds in tech today, and tech legend Bill Gates has thoughts about it. On a recent episode of Opening Bid with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi, Gates praised Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang for turning the company into one of the world’s most valuable. Gates specifically singles out Nvidia’s innovations “at the design level — the silicon, the buses, [and] the interconnects.”
But Gates also acknowledged the intense pressure Huang faces in a competitive industry, noting, “I wouldn’t want to be Jensen, necessarily.” While Nvidia is leading the charge, other tech giants, including Microsoft (MSFT), are developing their own AI chips, making it harder to predict what comes next. Nonetheless, Gates marveled at Huang’s ability to stay ahead, calling Nvidia’s success “unbelievable” in the AI age.
