What’s New in DayZ 1.72? Here Are the Patch Notes!

It felt like major updates to DayZ come too few and far between, but there’s still nothing like the survival game. It’s one of the go-to survival experiences for tens of thousands of players, myself included, and it keeps improving. Most recently, we received a look at DayZ 1.72, which is available now on PC and consoles, with the full patch notes!

The community found several issues on day one following the big release of the Frostline DLC and the most recent stable update. Bohemia Interactive went wild and pushed out a brand-new update to fix many of these issues. You can download DayZ 1.72 right now on your system!

FIXED

• Water was rendered inside boats
• Fireplaces in some buildings were not functioning properly
• Yellowfoot Mushroom was freezing at the wrong temperature
• Yellowfoot Mushroom had wrong rotation
• Items in the warhead storage were spawning in wrong locations
• The character could glitch under water if exiting the boat at high speeds
• The camera was dropping under thre ground on occasion
• The camera could stutter when the player would collide with a boat
• Deafness effect of heavy metal poisoning would not fully work
• The player would not properly groan in pain when suffering from heavy metal poisoning
• Pneumonia symptoms would overlap each other and unrelated sounds
• Balanced appearance of symptoms for the common cold and influenza
• Reduced the impact of influenza and pneumonia slightly
• It was not possible to climb over fences
• Vaulting could fail in some cases
• It was too difficult to light fireplaces on ice
• It was possible to build bases in the warhead storage and power station
• Boats could disappear under water after some time
• Boats could desync when collidion with an ice sheet
• Game physics could start to behave strangely after extended playtime
• Addressed multiple known server and game crashes
• Bolts could not be picked back up from dead AI
• It was possible to focus the server details in the server browser
• It was not possible to wear the shemagh with sports glasses
• It was not possible to switch the shemagh from face to head and vice versa
• Advanced placing was not possible on surfaces on top of water
• The character was stuttering while moving in water
• Boats driving too close to each other could cause stuttering
• Boat driving could be laggy for the driver
• After trying to get on top of a boat after pushing it, the player could float above the boat
• The player inventory could still react after death of the player
• Restraining a player would cause the inventory of players in proximity to close
• Boat engines could turn off and on in some cases while driving
• Changing seat in a boat and exiting right after could result in desync
• Exiting a sinking boat could break the player position
• Fixed an exploit that could result in freezing clients
• There was a performance decline on older generation consoles

CHANGED

• Tweaked weather behavior across maps
• Added sparks to the lever system in the power station
• Increased the size of the icon for fresh water sources on in-game maps
• SAKHAL (Frostline DLC)
• Fixed: The ADA 4×4 was not spawning on Sakhal
• Fixed: Piles of wooden planks were not spawning on Sakhal
• Fixed: It was not possible to drink from one of the fresh water sources
• Changed: Added interior darkness to an especially deep cave on Sakhal
• KNOWN ISSUES
• The server browser might not display servers – a fix is in the works – THIS CAN BE SOLVED BY RESETTING FILTERS
• Respawning from unconscious might result in disconnect from the server
• Thawing frozen items in cookware is too slow – a fix is in internal testing
• Heavy Metal Poisoning Screen effect is present after respawn – a fix is in internal testing, can be solved by reconnect
• Vehicles or boats behave weirdly next to rocks – a fix is in internal testing
• Character is stuttering while passing doors
• Camera twitches after vaulting over fences/walls
• Sakhal map doesn’t have translated name and description – a fix is in internal testing
• Alarm sound of Warhead bunker entrance can play permanently after server restart
• Some ice sheets cannot be climbed on
• Tents can clip into ice sheets after being packed
• Grass shortly disappears when driving boats close to a beach
• Boats and players in them are not getting any damage in crashes
• Small stutters can happen when walking/sprinting into the sea
• Climbing on boat, especially with no or low stamina, can cause animation glitches
• Some food can clip into fireplaces and ovens when added to cooking slots – a fix is in internal testing
• Inconsistencies with the cfgweather.xml – a fix is in internal testing
• Thawed snow area around fireplaces is not visible at night
• PC server descriptions do not support new line characters – a fix is in internal testing
