One of Australia’s biggest banks has suffered a major tech issue that is preventing customers from being able to access their funds.
Customers attempting to access their Westpac online or mobile banking were met with an error message that read: “Something’s wrong. Please try again later.”
The issue appears to have started just before 1pm AEDT.
Around 10,000 Australians flocked to the popular site Down Detector to report the outages.
In a statement shared on X, the bank said it was aware of the issue.
“We’re aware that customers are experiencing issues accessing online and mobile banking. Our teams are working to fix the issue. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to share updates here.”
One customer replied to the bank’s statement on X saying the issue had prevented them from buying Oasis tickets.
“Stopped me from getting Oasis tickets!” Matt Barton wrote.
“Had the tickets reserved — went to my Westpac app to get my credit card details…. Something’s not working…. Something’s not working… Not happy.”
