Valorant is cooking something new, and it might be the most exciting news fans have been wanting to hear for a while now. Just when players thought that Valorant couldn’t get any better, the news of it getting a massive makeover hit the market.
However, the only matter of concern is whether Riot will stand by its promises or back out on it after generating a lot of hype. This dilemma can only be resolved with time as we get more and more updates from the developer in the future.
Valorant owes a huge chunk of its success to the Unreal Engine, which enabled the game to rise to greater heights while also making the expansion to console possible with much east and comfort.
The game currently runs on Unreal Engine 4.27, but that is going to change soon as Anna Donlon, the SVP and Head of Valorant Studios, confirms the game will be getting a makeover via Unreal Engine 5. The game will not drastically change instantly but will gradually begin to look anew.
During the Unreal Fest Seattle 2024’s Opening Session, Anna Donlon talked about some of the hypothetical game modes that might be coming to Valorant soon. She said:
There are many developers back at Riot who are incredibly grateful for what Unreal has allowed us to do for players and there are many developers back at Riot who are very excited about what UE5 can do for us in the future.
Maybe, those devs are working on something I can’t talk about, maybe those devs are thinking about ways to expand the Val universe to new playable experiences.
One of these new playable experiences is speculated to be a dedicated PvE mode that Overwatch fans have been wanting to see for a while now. Overwatch has made similar promises in the past but has failed to live up to those promises. We would just need to wait and see what Riot has in store for us in the future.
Overwatch fans can have their dreams come true by extension through Valorant if it successfully manages to integrate a PvE mode. However, nothing can be said for certain as there has been no official announcement regarding this mode.
The studio head of Valorant has not specifically confirmed that we will be seeing a PvE mode. She just brushed up on the point that the developers might be working on new playable experiences, which made fans think that they might be getting a PvE mode.
However, only time can tell what is in store for us in the future. Whether Riot will live up to its promises or suffer the same fate as Overwatch is a question that is going to answer itself with time. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
