- The Valley of the Architects is an upcoming elevator-based puzzler releasing this March
- Solve the mysteries left behind by the titular Lost Architect
- Experience a fully voice-acted storyline to boot
The Valley of the Architects, an upcoming iOS puzzler, is set to release in March. You may remember us covering it last week, where we took a gander at what this narrative puzzle adventure has to offer. So if you were intrigued then you won’t have to wait long with the release date well on its way.
The Valley of the Architects, as you might expect, sees you pursuing the titular lost architect. You play as Liz, a writer who journeys to Africa as she tries to uncover the secrets of their designs. She narrates her journey as she solves each elevator-based puzzle, attempting to discover the true story beneath it all.
Catherine was very effusive when we initially covered this upcoming release, and it’s not hard to see why. It combines the simple pleasure of puzzle solving with the surprisingly rare inclusion of a fully voice-acted story to let you experience it from Liz’s point of view.
An architect’s dream
Again, it’s not hard to see why Catherine was so intrigued by The Valley of the Architects! I think puzzlers that concentrate on one core mechanic and produce different twists on it throughout the experience always tend to be more fluid and fun than those that throw in everything and the kitchen sink.
At the same time, I can’t help but feel that the look of The Valley of the Architects may be a pitfall, as it has some gorgeously detailed-looking buildings, but ones that look small even on a PC screen. Still, I don’t doubt there’s plenty of you looking forward to giving it a go when it releases for iOS and Steam in March.
