The first two The Sims games are back. EA has announced—and re-released—both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 for PC as part of a new collection called The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
The news confirms reports from earlier this week that EA was set to announce the release of both games on Friday.
“{We’re] taking it back to where it all began with the launch of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle,” EA said in the announcement. “You’ve been asking for it, and we’re thrilled to finally return to the days when we first reimagined the ways people play with life.”
The games will be available to purchase in three different bundles: The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, The Sims: Legacy Collection, and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.
Retailing for $39.99, The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle includes both games along with all released DLC. If you just want one game or the other, those will set you back $19.99 for The Sims: Legacy Collection and $29.99 for The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.
As far as DLC is concerned, The Sims: Legacy Collection comes with the following:
- The Sims: Livin’ Large
- The Sims: House Party
- The Sims: Hot Date
- The Sims: Vacation
- The Sims: Unleashed
- The Sims: Superstar
- The Sims: Makin’ Magic
- The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit
For The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, you’ll get:
- The Sims 2: University
- The Sims 2: Nightlife
- The Sims 2: Open for Business
- The Sims 2: Pets
- The Sims 2: Bon Voyage
- The Sims 2: Seasons
- The Sims 2: FreeTime
- The Sims 2: Apartment Life
- The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack
- The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff
- The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff
- The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff
- The Sims 2: Celebration! Stuff
- The Sims 2: H&M Fashion Stuff
- The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff
- The Sims 2: Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff
- The Sims 2: Mansion & Garden Stuff
- The Sims 4: Grunge Revival Kit.
If you happen to still play The Sims 1/2 or just happen to have an old save file, EA says that players will be able to bring their old saves into the newly released versions of the game. Both titles will also support original mods, but EA did make it clear that they haven’t all been tested to guarantee they work.
“It’ll be up to individual Mod creators to ensure Mods work with the new version,” EA said.
