Raymond James Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, did not make it through Hurricane Milton unscathed.
Hurricane Milton made landfall Wednesday night in the Tampa Bay area, bringing heavy rains and high winds. A sensor at Anna Maria Island detected 84-mph sustained winds with a gust to 106 mph at 10 p.m. ET, said Tyler Fleming, a meteorologist with the weather service in Tampa Bay.
Despite fears over a possible storm surge causing flooding in the area, a reverse storm surge pushed excess water away from shore instead of pushing it onto the coast.
Raymond James Stadium still experience standing water on the field from the storm’s rain, videos posted on social media showed.

What to know about this weekend’s games
Raymond James Stadium still plans to host a football game this weekend despite Hurricane Milton.
The University of South Florida football team, which uses it as a home stadium, was originally scheduled to play the University of Memphis Friday. Officials announced it would instead be pushed back to Saturday, Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m. ET, pending an assessment of the building and field after the storm passes.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were not in the area when Milton touched down, instead getting an early start to their trip to New Orleans for their game against the Saints this weekend. The team is using Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium for practice ahead of the game.
