The principal of an Abbeville County charter school has been arrested and accused of participating in sexual acts with minors.
According to Spartanburg County Detention Center records, Spartanburg County deputies arrested Kalan Rogers, 31, of Calhoun Falls, on Friday. The principal and the track and field coach at Calhoun Falls Charter School was accused on Oct. 21 of sexual battery with a student 16 or 17 years of age in Spartanburg.
Between 2016 and 2017, Rogers, while a school administrator in Spartanburg, performed a sexual act on a minor, according to an indictment filed by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
The SCAG’s office declined to release additional details about the case, including identifying the school.
The Calhoun Fall School Board did not give Rogers status with the charter school.
“While we are unable to comment on an active investigation, we are aware of this situation,” Calhoun Falls Board of Trustee Tracy Lindler said. The board has acted in accordance with our policies to ensure our school’s operational needs are met during this time to ensure no interruption for our students and families.”
