Solving puzzles in an eerie town with monsters lurking can make the experience much harder. This is a quick guide on how to solve the Blue Creek Apartments moth puzzle.

James Sunderland will eventually make his way to the Blue Creek Apartments in his quest to find his wife. The apartment complex is tricky to navigate and is full of confusing puzzles that can dissuade newer players of the Silent Hill 2 Remake leading them to give up after failing to find the solution. The code to open the lock on Standard difficulty is 3-7-3; however, some players would like to know how this solution came to be in the remake of Silent Hill 2. The clues are scattered around the room and this is how to get them.

After acquiring the flashlight on the second floor of the Woodside Apartments, players will jump to the next-door building, the Blue Creek Apartments, and have a few more puzzles to solve before they can advance. Players will be faced with the Clock puzzle, and the Seesaw puzzle before they can enter the room with an ‘M’ label where the Moth puzzle will begin.

It is worth noting that this puzzle will be focused on mathematical equations, and the game developers will not punish the players with complex math equations. It is a simple case of addition and subtraction, especially once players figure out the given. The lock itself will hint at the solution that can help players find what they are looking for on the wings of each moth.

Moths are designated with a few icons: a skull, a crescent, and a circle inside a diamond. There are 5 circle moths inside the room and two skulls. The crescent icon can be troublesome since some are well hidden and will require a bit of effort to find all symbols; nevertheless, there are 8 total crescent icons.

The first part of the lock requires players to subtract the total number of circles with diamonds from crescents which would be 8 – 5 and players can input 3 on the lock. The second equation is about adding skulls with the circles and the total sum of this math problem is 7. Lastly, it is circles minus skulls which would be 3.

It is a simple math equation; however, players can get lost and some do not have the patience or the attention span knowing they are playing a creepy horror game. Kudos to the game developers of Bloober Team for giving this new version of Silent Hill 2 a compelling puzzle that can jog up the brain and force players to look for crucial clues and think critically.

The solutions given may vary depending on the difficulty selected. The code for the easiest difficulty is 5-8-2 while the code for the hardest is 5-2-2.
