Richmond get claws out as Tigers’ tempers flare in training scuffle

A hot-headed off-season has continued with Richmond teammates not holding back in their match simulation on Monday morning.

As the new-look Tigers look to lift themselves off the bottom after claiming the wooden spoon last season they are showing they will have plenty of early fight in them.

Forward Rhyan Mansell was the chief instigator, pinning and wrestling teammates with midfielder Sam Banks desperately trying to intervene but struggling to impose himself against the 24-year-old.

Fellow midfielder Jack Ross said there was plenty of energy around the group having welcomed a host of new faces in during the AFL Draft.

“We’re a really young side with a lot of energy and the boys turned up today,” he said.

“It was nice and competitive it’s always high energy this time of year and we’re training really hard.

“We want to bring a really exciting fun brand of footy.”

In good news for Tigers fans, Tom Lynch was back to full training after he struggled to get back on the park last year with a host of injuries.

“It is nice to have him back out there, he’s been unreal and to see him out there at full tilt is really exciting,” he said.

It comes just days after Sydney brothers Chad and Corey Warner had to be separated by coach Dean Cox after the pair became involved in a scuffle after a heavy tackle.

With the Tigers getting physical with their own teammates there could be plenty of feeling when they meet their old ones when Liam Baker and Jack Graham line up against them in West Coast colours in their pre-season clash on May 11.
