West Aussies heading down south have caused chaos on a major Perth freeway, with motorists warned to allow for extra time.
On Friday afternoon, the Kwinana Freeway southbound was bumper to bumper as people made their way to the South West for the Australia Day long weekend.
Main Roads WA asked motorists to be patient when driving and issued a reminder about double demerits..
“It’s a busy one on heavy Kwinana Freeway southbound,” Main Roads wrote on X.
“Allow for extra travel time as many are heading down south for the long weekend.
“Be patient and courteous.
“Reminder — double demerits from now until Monday 27 January.”
A breakdown just before Canning Highway has closed the left emergency lane on Kwinana Freeway southbound.
At 12.54pm there had been no major crashes on the freeway.
