Perth Glory confirm star Adam Taggart and women’s players Isobel Dalton and Onyinyechi Zogg will captain club

Perth Glory veteran Adam Taggart will captain the club again this season, but two women’s stars will share the role.

Taggart, who was first unveiled as Glory skipper alongside Mark Beevers last season, will hold onto the role in a move confirmed at the club’s season launch on Tuesday.

His fellow striker David Williams will serve as vice-captain.

Taggart is the competition’s reigning Golden Boot winner and has featured 20 times for the Socceroos, but missed out on former Glory boss Tony Popovic’s maiden squad this month.

Women’s midfielder Isobel Dalton and Nigerian international Onyinyechi Zogg will replace retiring club great Natasha Rigby and share the armband this season.

“We’re thrilled to confirm Adam, Isobel and Onyinyechi as our captains for the new season,” Glory chief executive Anthony Radich said.

“In addition to being top-quality performers in their respective positions, all three are excellent characters who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and attributes.

Dalton made 19 appearances last season after shifting to Perth from Brisbane Roar.

She will split the role with Zogg, who signed with the Glory this off-season after an impressive career playing in Europe.

The 27-year-old has played in the Women’s Champions League and played international football.
