GROVE, Okla. — A Grove teenager told police he built a toilet paper fort over a dog bed and spent a couple of nights there after he ran away from his grandparents last weekend.
Christopher Dunham, 16, was reported missing on Sunday by his grandparents. Grove Police Chief Mark Morris said the teen was sneaking back into his grandparents’ house when he was caught.

Morris said he may have been watching the police presence at the grandparent’s home on Tuesday night, and when the last officer left, he tried to sneak back into the house.
“This is one of the most bizarre cases in my law enforcement career,” said Morris.
Morris also said a Department of Human Services worker meets with the teen on Wednesday.
“He may have a minor case of frostbite on his toes,” said Morris. “It is unknown if this was related to this runaway or a previous incident.”
The grandfather brought the teen to the Grove Police Department, where the story began to unfold.
“He spent one night at Honey Creek State Park and the other nights inside Wal-Mart,” said Morris.
Dunham told police after hours he would build a toilet paper fort in the toilet paper aisle and use a dog bed to sleep in.
The grandparents initially made searching for the teen difficult. Morris said they didn’t want the boy’s photograph released due to extended family issues and weren’t very cooperative.
On Tuesday, a Grove police officer and a DHS child worker were denied entrance into the home, prompting police to get a search warrant.
Police arrived at the grandparents’ residence around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night to serve the search warrant and were yet again met with hostility and denied entrance into the home.
After a few moments of negotiating with the grandparents, Grove Police began to search the home, outside vehicles, and the residence’s backyard.
Morris added electronics, cameras, and cell phones were also seized.
