Dr Disrespect had found himself caught amidst a controversy that led to his permanent ban on Twitch in 2020. Dr Disrespect did not deny the allegations of sending inappropriate texts to a minor via Twitch, which led to a further rift from Midnight Society, of which he was a founding member.
However, he resumed his public appearances via YouTube and continues to stream, but he has been suspended from the YouTube Partner Program, which restricts him from generating revenue from YouTube. He was recently seen claiming that he would be joining Midnight Society back, which led to further backlash from the studio itself, denying his claims.
Dr Disrespect was one of the founding members of Midnight Society, which is dedicated to making AAA titles. However, following the wide array of allegations against him, he was asked to leave. He, however, was still delusional about his comeback.
He has still not removed the company’s name from his bio and was recently seen claiming that he would be joining the company back. These claims were quickly dismissed by one of the developers in the studio, who made it very clear that the studio will not entertain these claims. The developer said:
We amicably parted ways with Dr Disrespect, and will always be appreciative of his contributions to the studio. Our focus is shipping Deadrop in 2025.
The studio itself also faced a lot of backlash from players when they got to know that the game uses NFTs for its founders pass. Many consider these transactions to be scams, and the energy used to generate them is hazardous to the environment.
The studio was faced with massive layoffs after the Dr Disrespect debacle, which included almost 50% of the development team. This led to a delay in delivery of its latest, free-to-play online shooter game, Deadrop. The game is now anticipated to be released sometime in next year.
Dr Disrespect still continues to stream and is delusional about his comeback to the studio after what he has done. He still generates thousands of views on YouTube from people who stuck around even after what he did. However, his claims of returning to the studio have been dismissed by them in plain words.
He is yet to respond to the statement released by Midnight Society. He is currently silent on the matter, and people have been waiting for what he might have to add to his claims of joining the studio back.
