Marvel Rivals Literally Copied Orisa of Overwatch 2 for Their Most Annoying Vanguard

There’s no denying the fact that NetEase Games has set the world on fire with Marvel Rivals. Right from its first debut in December 2024, the game has been making records left and right while still managing to keep players entertained with tons of new content additions.

One of the main reasons why Marvel Rivals has succeeded is because it has learned from the biggest mistakes made by Overwatch 2. Every single aspect of the gameplay is catered towards players, and that’s not something the Blizzard hero-shooter shines on.

However, Marvel Rivals has made a major error by copying one of the most boring and pointless heroes in Overwatch 2.

Let’s be honest here, one of the most annoying characters in Overwatch 2 is Orisa. While she might not have the best pick rate in the current meta, she still possesses some insane crowd-control abilities and damage output. In the original game, she was more defensive and a team-oriented character.

However, for some reason, Blizzard has made her more of an aggressive tank in the sequel, which can be a nightmare to counter, especially if the enemy is playing right. Most of the fans agree that she’s a boring and frustrating hero to go against.

Considering the fact that NetEase has paid close attention to all the criticism surrounding Overwatch 2 and improved upon those in its own hero-shooter, you’d think that Marvel Rivals wouldn’t make the mistake of having a frustrating hero like Orisa. However, that’s not the case.

Facing Peni Parker in Marvel Rivals can be an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons. You might think that she’s a passive character, but with her constant stuns, Peni Parker can turn your match upside down. She can basically destroy any chances of your team diving and brawling it out, all thanks to the annoying webs.

Seriously, her spamming web is one of the most frustrating defensive plays. What’s even worse is that she can support already borderline-broken DPS heroes such as Hela and Hawkeye, ensuring that they don’t get dived and dominate their enemies.

Peni Parker, as a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, can give any team an unfair advantage and ruin the match for others.

So far, we’ve seen tons of leaks in Marvel Rivals that have given us names of certain characters that might be added to the hero-shooter in the future. Rumors suggest we could soon see Gambit, Rogue, and even Deadpool in the game at some point.

NetEase hasn’t said anything officially about these rumors. However, it seems like the studio might have made up a lot of these leaks. According to Dexerto, one of the admins on Marvel Rivals‘ discord recently sent out a message stating that they think that NetEase has fabricated some character leaks by putting false references in source codes.

Just like the leaks themselves, we don’t have any official confirmation that the developers are dropping fake information about the future characters. However, this certainly adds to the level of confusion and uncertainty regarding any future rumors about Marvel Rivals and its roster additions.

Dataminers have been trying their best to figure out which Marvel Rivals leaks are real, and it’s believed that heroes such as Blade and Deadpool are real. However, potential characters such as Beast, Gambit, and Professor X are now being scrutinized.
