The next game from Arkane founder Raphaël Colantonio’s current studio, Wolfeye, has found its publisher.
The yet-to-be-named “retro sci-fi first-person action RPG” will be published by Neowiz, the South Korean firm behind Lies of P.
Following 18 years at Arkane, during which he served as president and co-creative director, Colantonio announced in 2019 that he’d formed a new outfit called Wolfeye Studios.
Its debut title, Weird West, was released in 2022. The dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West is a top-down action RPG and immersive sim that earned scores of 76 (PC), 73 (PS4) and 81 (Xbox One) on review aggregation site Metacritic.
Accompanying today’s announcement, Wolfeye released some new pieces of concept art for its upcoming PC and console game, which will feature a branching narrative.
Viewable at the top of this page and below, they “convey the diversity of the world and how the studio is blending a rugged environment with layers of futuristic style”.
Colantonio co-founded Wolfeye with CEO Julien Roby, a former executive producer at Arkane, who spent 11 years at the studio before working as a producer on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Mafia 3 at 2K.
Wolfeye is also said to house a veteran team who worked with the pair on Dishonored and Prey, and other developers whose credits include Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Pentiment, and the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
“We have a burning passion for making a very specific type of game that blends RPG, action and simulation,” said Wolfeye creative director and president Colantonio. “These games can only be successful when the publisher shares that same passion.”
Roby added: “With Neowiz, we found a partner that truly understands our vision and is as committed as we are to delivering a unique, creative and memorable game experience that will appeal both to our long-term fans and new players alike.”
