The Just Cause series is one of the best franchises ever made by Square Enix and Hollywood is finally bringing our all-time favorite Latino to the big screen.
After numerous reports since 2010, Just Cause is finally getting a film adaptation. But who are the people behind it? and will they be able to keep up with our expectations? Let’s find out.
Just Cause is a franchise that took the world by storm when the first game debuted in 2006. The game featured Rico Rodriguez a.k.a The Scorpion who just brought three things to the table, a parachute, a grapple to zipline himself with, and GUNS. LOTS OF GUNS.
The mixture of ziplining through grass fields and shooting your enemies while parachuting made the fans go crazy. The whole series had shipped over 15 million copies worldwide and finally, after years of anticipation, the franchise is getting a movie.
As reported by The Wrap, Aaron Rabin is set to write the upcoming movie adaptation of the game. You might recognize Rabin by his most famous work, Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski. Rabin is joined by Ángel Manuel Soto, who directed DC’s Blue Beetle.
The film will be produced by 87North Productions, with the producers being Kelly McCormick and David Leitch who also produced action films that include Bullet Train, The Fall Guy, Nobody, and more.
Story Kitchen Production members, specifically Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson, will also serve as producers while Dan Jevons will take the lead as executive producer. Story Kitchen Productions is responsible for films like Netflix’s Tomb Raider and Paramount’s Sonic The Hedgehog.
While the cast of the movie is still a mystery, a 2017 report by Variety suggested that Jason Mamoa might be the star of this action movie, but that’s just speculation.
With this talented team of writers, directors, and producers behind it, the Just Cause movie has the potential to bring Rico Rodriguez’s explosive adventures to life in a way that does justice to the beloved game franchise.
Even though details on the cast and plot remain under wraps, we are all very excited to see if Hollywood can capture the high-flying chaos and adrenaline-fueled combat that made the game a fan favorite.
