According to a new report, the Just Cause movie adaptation has secured Jack Ryan’s writer.
The Wrap has learned that Aaron Rabin from Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Silent River and more will be penning down Just Cause’s movie adaptation. It was also confirmed that Ángel Manuel Soto, the man behind Blue Beetle and Amazon’s upcoming The Wrecking Crew, will be directing the film.
Moreover, the report also states that the upcoming movie’s title has been decided, and they call it “Operation Just Cause.” It is inspired by the “real-life United States invasion of Panama”. The release window, cast, and plot details were not revealed.
The initial announcement informed us about the producers for the Just Cause movie, which include Kelly McCormick and David Leitch from Fall Guy, Bullet Train and more, and they are represented through 87North’s first-look deal with Universal. Story Kitchen’s (also working on the Sleeping Dogs movie) Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson, with Dan Jevons, will also serve as executive producers for the film; they are responsible for projects like Sonic the Hedgehog and Tomb Raider.
Just Cause is a popular open-world action-adventure series developed by Square Enix that revolves around a formidable character called Rico Rodriguez. The series currently consists of four instalments, with Rodriguez causing mayhem in a new fictional country in each game. A key selling point of the franchise is its highly destructible environments, which reward players for creating chaos. Additionally, the series is known for its explosive action sequences.
