As Helldivers 2 approaches its first anniversary, the latest Major Order seems to be giving us some hints about what’s to come. Arrowhead Game Studios recently announced the latest Major Order to Helldivers who have to collect some samples for Gloom-resistant technology.
This time, the mission focuses on collecting vital samples from Gloom-adjacent Terminid planets to combat the mysterious spore cloud. Given the fact that this research could help us explore deeper and perhaps versus the Illuminate, there’s a chance that Arrowhead is planning to release a themed Warbond.
The latest Major Order directs Helldivers to extract 22 million common samples from Erata Prime, 15 million rare samples from Gacrux, and secure Fenrir III for Super Earth within four days. These efforts will help Super Earth’s scientists develop Gloom-resistant technologies. Players have already started to speculate about the bigger implications of something like this.
MAJOR ORDER: The Illuminate campaign of terror continues unrestricted. Even the resurgent DSS, deployed with unassailable precision by the Helldivers, was not enough to repel the tide of xeno-autocracy.

The Gloom has been called “An interstellar Terminid spore cloud of unusual size and density” in the game and is one of the game’s biggest mysteries. According to Super Earth’s scientists, recent studies suggest that the Gloom might hold the key to a vast new energy source. Experiments indicate that Gloom-induced mutations could yield more Element 710, a vital resource for advanced technologies.
But why has Arrowhead explored the Gloom at this particular time? Is there a Gloom-themed Warbond or Stratagem? The current mission’s focus on Gloom-related technology suggests that the next content drop could potentially be focused on Gloom. The game’s anniversary also aligns with the conclusion of this Major Order so maybe that’s when Arrowhead announces it.
The biggest question that players are asking is, will completing this Major Order allow access to the Gloom itself? The spore cloud has always been impenetrable and this would be the chance for us Helldivers to finally find out the secrets behind its mystery. Or maybe it leads to secrets we don’t want to find out.
Will completion of this major order allow us to enter the gloom?

The timing of this Major Order has also fueled speculation about its connection to upcoming updates. With Helldivers 2’s anniversary approaching in two weeks, some players believe that this order serves as a prelude to a larger update that could introduce new content centered on the Gloom.
The fan theories have already started. The suggestions range from the addition of Gloom-specific missions to the reveal of mutated Terminid enemies and advanced biomes. Others suggest that this could be a prelude to a larger update, featuring missions deep within the Gloom and possibly introducing hive-like Terminid overlords.
The idea of a Gloom-related Warbond is an interesting thing to think about too. We could get unique equipment designed to combat the spore cloud’s effects or even use its properties for the use of our own troops. What do you think of that? It could be specialized armor to resist Gloom-induced mutations or stratagems to deploy Gloom-adapted weaponry, the possibilities are tantalizing.
