Ever since its launch as an early access on December 7th, Path of Exile 2 has been everything fans of the series could have hoped for. The massive skill tree, diverse classes, challenging bosses, and the deep, intricate world all come together to create an immersive action RPG experience.
Crafting and gear progression are central to the game, but grinding for the essential materials can quickly become a tiring, repetitive chore, especially at the end game. To make the grind a bit easier and intriguing, the game could benefit from introducing a system like Diablo 4’s The Tree of Whispers.
In Diablo 4, the Tree of Whispers is a system that encourages players to explore the world by giving them various smaller tasks. These tasks are known as Whispering Tasks and can range from defeating certain enemies to clearing out monster camps or completing world events.
As players complete these tasks, they fill a progress bar that, when completed, unlocks a reward cache. The rewards in this cache can give a combination of gold, crafting materials, and valuable gear, making it a great way to steadily accumulate the resources needed for progression.
If a similar system gets implemented in Path of Exile 2, it could help streamline the loot progression. Rather than relying on random drops or the endless grind for gold (by killing enemies over and over again), players could engage in these small, satisfying tasks as they explore the vast world.
This system would offer frequent and consistent rewards that players can directly feed into their crafting and gear progression systems, allowing them to improve their builds or simply give them more flexibility. This would make resource farming less frustrating and more engaging, especially late game.
One of the most celebrated features of the sequel is its massive skill tree, which allows for almost limitless combinations of builds and abilities. The game, with its sequel, also added a feature that allows players to backtrack and try out more builds or simply adjust their current ones.

In the end, whether or not Path of Exile 2 will incorporate this system, particularly since it’s coming from its direct competitor. However, it’s clear that players are hoping the developers will introduce some feature that makes the grind for common resources a bit easier.
