While Path of Exile fans rarely get disappointed nowadays, Grinding Gear Games let them down to start the new year as Path of Exile 1’s new league or patch 3.26 is indefinitely delayed. They promised to keep both games (PoE 1 and PoE 2) running as a live-service game, but it has been over half a year since Path of Exile 1’s Settlers of Kalguur launch.
Grinding Gear Games has been transparent with most of the details, as they delayed patch 3.26 to make sure Path of Exile 2 meets the deadline. However, it turns out that the team working on Path of Exile 1 has still been working on Path of Exile 2, and they still need them. They confirmed that the Path of Exile 1 team will only go back to Path of Exile 1 after Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 content patch, which still doesn’t have a timetable.
Path of Exile 1’s X page teased their content idea to fill the void.
It looks as if players will have to wait longer for patch 3.26 as the announcement seems to tease a 1-month event to keep players occupied with some random shenanigans that won’t stick. Grinding Gear Games aims to mix up all the ascendancies, allowing massive class overhaul changes and absurd build ideas.
It sounds extremely fun and engaging, but it doesn’t look like it will stick with the game, and it is only a “fun” 1-month event to keep players engaged. Randomly mixing ascendancy nodes will not be permanent or should not be permanent, as this will break the established ascendancies that have worked over the years.
However, it does seem like a month-long event may indicate that they have something planned soon, and patch 3.26 might come right after the event.

While Path of Exile 2’s launch has been successful in numbers, it still falls short of the current excellence of Path of Exile 1. Because of this, it divided the community a bit since some stayed away from Path of Exile 2 after experiencing its endgame, and it is a lot inferior to Path of Exile 1’s endgame.
Most creators agree that Path of Exile 2’s endgame needs a lot of work, and it is far from the current iteration of Path of Exile 1’s endgame or even its past endgame mechanics (mapping with Awakened Sextants and Compasses). It does make sense since Path of Exile 2 is still in early access. However, there are some that the type of endgame should be somewhat decent because they had all that data and feedback from Path of Exile 1.
Awakened Sextants and Compasses got changed to purely Scarabs to help players run more maps without the extra steps of “juicing” the map through three or more different means. They must unlock map device slots and get the Scarabs needed to run your farming strategy. The currency exchange streamlined farming even more, making Settlers of Kalguur one of the best leagues throughout Path of Exile 1’s long history.
As for Path of Exile 2, the endgame felt more tedious than fun, and hopefully, they address the issue soon. The main problem now is that players who crave this type of endgame from Path of Exile 1 are now stuck in limbo as there hasn’t been a new league in Path of Exile 1 for more than half a year, and Path of Exile 2 is still cooking in the oven.
Hopefully, the new upcoming event will give some of the Path of Exile 1 fans something to look forward to.
