Ever since 2018, Fortnite has seen several collaborations. Fans may have seen multiple Spider-Men, Iron Men, and even celebrities like The Weeknd, Lionel Messi, Lady Gaga, Shaq, and many others during their Fortnite matches. Even franchises like the Monsterverse have collaborated with Fortnite by allowing Godzilla and King Kong to be a part of their roster. With these collaborations, Fortnite also introduced various game modes where the use of certain characters makes sense.
For instance, one of the game modes named Fortnite Festival, is one where players have access to a rhythm-based game. This game mode, developed by Harmonix of Rock Band fame, was primarily to promote the work of several artists. Similarly, by partnering with LEGO, Epic Games saw a massive opportunity to add some LEGO-themed game modes to Fortnite.
Hence, it’s not too outlandish to assume that Fortnite may partner up with another large franchise with a player base as large as its own. A franchise known as Minecraft.
Probably the most confusing thing about the LEGO Fortnite collab is how the two games even go together. While the construction aspect is the same, the thought of a LEGO Fortnite is as weird as a beefy Peter Griffin running around shooting people and constructing massive walls. Yet, Epic Games made it work. Peter Griffin was a hit and Fortnite players were disappointed when Epic scrapped certain cosmetics from Family Guy.
In a similar fashion, Epic cleverly incorporated the LEGO franchise into Fortnite with a new LEGO-themed game mode. LEGO Fortnite is a completely different experience compared to the original game. Named Odyssey, this game mode is a sandbox survival mode similar to Minecraft. Players can use their creativity to survive, construct LEGO-themed structures and even play as LEGO versions of their favorite Fortnite characters. Fans are excited for the new update the game is getting.
With LEGO Fortnite being one of Fortnite’s biggest collaborations, it has proved that Fortnite can expand on its massive fan base by incorporating other beloved franchises including Minecraft. Despite speculation for a Minecraft-Fortnite collab, it’s possible that such a partnership will never happen thanks to LEGO’s ties with Fortnite.
The rumors come from @BackersGamesF, a popular Fortnite news leaker, via X. A Fortnite x Minecraft collaboration makes sense for everyone involved, to be fair. Both games have a massive following which they’ve amassed over the years. LEGO Fortnite proved that a Minecraft-like game mode can be a huge hit if they try.
FORTNITE × MINECEAFT 💀🙏
The previous image seemed real for some indicators, like the upcoming game which had leaked and been teased by some devs
If this is real, expect a Minecraft collab end 2025 😭 #Fortnite | @blortzen pic.twitter.com/97vEfOCRsr

However, this same collaboration could exactly be why Fortnite x Minecraft could never happen. When playing LEGO Fortnite’s Odyssey mode, players will realize that the game is incredibly similar to Minecraft. The building mechanics, combat, art style, and other features all bear a resemblance to Minecraft. It is clear that LEGO Fortnite was intended to compete with games like Minecraft.
It is highly unlikely that LEGO will allow this partnership to happen as it could affect their sales and even plans for promoting their new LEGO sets. A collaboration between two giants like Minecraft and Fortnite could hurt the chances of newer game modes in LEGO Fortnite as well. Yet, neither Epic nor Mojang have confirmed the arrival of a Minecraft-Fortnite partnership as of yet and it is highly unlikely they ever will.
