A bushfire that raged through 1416ha of land near the Bremer Bay townsite and threatened lives and homes has been downgraded to advice.
The serious blaze, that posed a threat to lives and homes on Friday, has been contained and is burning about 20km west of the town, near the intersection of Borden-Bremer Bay Road and Ocumup Road.
People in the area bounded by Devils Creek South Road to the west, Tozers Bushcamp to the north and Borden-Bremer Bay Road to the south are warned to stay alert and monitor conditions.
The bushfire — which was reported at 11.37am on Friday — is now stationary and under control with Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews patrolling the area and mopping up.
Warramarrup road is still closed, while Dillon Bay road has reopened.
An emergency level warning was issued at 3.50pm on Friday, to people in the area bounded by Borden Bremer Bay Road, Warramurrup Road, Dillon Bay Road and the coastline in the Shire of Jerramungup, who were told to act immediately to survive.
DFES confirmed the cause of the blaze as lightning.
