ALLEGATIONS MADE BY FORMER HAWTHORN PLAYERS AND THE CLUB’S RESPONSES IN FEDERAL COURT DOCUMENTS
* Cyril Rioli, Carl Peterson and Jermaine Miller-Lewis say they were bullied into relocating and made to choose between their careers and families
* Former coach Alastair Clarkson, now with North Melbourne, his former assistant Chris Fagan, now with Brisbane, former welfare manager Jason Burt Clarkson and the club deny wrongdoing and reject accusations of racism
CYRIL RIOLI
* Rioli says Clarkson told him not to have babies as that would disrupt his career or potentially end it
* While Clarkson did attend the meeting, the club does not know what was said
* Rioli’s skin colour was questioned during an unannounced visit to an Alice Springs hospital while he was visiting his sick father
* Hawks admit Clarkson questioned the colour of Rioli’s skin during the visit
* Rioli claims the club did not take action in response to player Grant Birchall using a racial slur against former Indigenous teammate Bradley Hill
* The club denies it took no action, saying Jarryd Roughead who was part of the team’s leadership group overheard the comment and counselled Birchall, comforted Hill and facilitated an apology
CARL PETERSON
* A group of coaches, including Clarkson and Fagan, allegedly urged Peterson to have his partner’s pregnancy terminated
* Club says a meeting where Peterson was allegedly told to terminate partner’s pregnancy did not occur
* Peterson says he was told to “get rid” of his partner and move into the home of an assistant coach
* Couple was offered relationship counselling, Hawthorn says, denying the claim
* Club says Peterson was dropped in the elimination final match against Fremantle in 2010 after his partner told the club he had taken marijuana in the week before the game
* Peterson was “incoherent” and appeared to be “affected by alcohol or illicit substances” when being picked up at the airport by a club official after returning from a Perth trip to visit is gravely ill grandpa in 2009
JERMAINE MILLER-LEWIS
* Miller-Lewis says he was separated from his partner and young child, who was born soon after his arrival at the club
* First-year rookie players are offered 10 free flights a year, of which the couple had used four, Hawks say
* Miller-Lewis’ wife and son were not allowed to visit him until the child was four months old because the club deemed the family would be a “distraction” to the player, he alleges
* Ms Lewis and the baby did not need permission to visit Miller-Lewis, the club responds.
