ADRIAN — Adrian High School‘s band director has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct and has been placed on leave.
Aaron Michael Mykeloff, 50, of Raisin Township was arraigned Tuesday on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to online Lenawee County District Court records. The records show the offenses took place in 2022 in Raisin Township. Bond was set at $400,000.
Mykeloff is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a minor, a news release from the Raisin Township Police Department said.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 11, and a preliminary examination is set for Feb. 18, both before District Judge Laura J. Schaedler.
Mykeloff has been placed on leave, a news release from Adrian Public Schools said.
“Naturally, Adrian Public Schools is actively cooperating with law enforcement,” the release said. “The District is also conducting its investigation into these off-duty, off-site allegations.”

The charges are not related to his employment, the district and police said.
“We understand that the recent information regarding Mr. Mykeloff is difficult to process and will leave students confused, upset and uncertain,” a note sent Monday to band parents and students said. “Tomorrow, High School Principal Mr. Skeels will be in both first and second hour band class, as well as 3rd hour guitar class, to support students and help process this information. He will also discuss the plan to ensure that planned band activities can move forward.”

Mykeloff is represented by attorney Elias Muawad of Bloomfield Hills. Muawad said Tuesday that he had no comment because he has not yet received discovery in the case, such as police reports.
The maximum penalty for the charges is life or any number of years in prison.
Anyone with information to add about this case may contact Sgt. James Briggs or Chief Kevin Grayer at the Raisin Township Police Department by calling 517-424-4615.
Mykeloff has been band director at Adrian High School since August 2018. He previously taught at Britton Deerfield Schools for 19 years and at Alexander Elementary School in Adrian in 1999 and 2000.
