After a week of teasing, EA has finally re-released The Sims and The Sims 2, with almost all previous DLC included.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are rolling out today on PC via the EA App, Epic Game Store and Steam.
The Sims costs $19.99 and The Sims 2 costs $29.99, but players can buy a 25th Birthday Bundle containing both for $39.99, saving $10.
Each game also includes almost all DLC previously released, with the only exception being the IKEA Home Stuff DLC released for The Sims 2 (presumably due to licensing reasons).
Both games have been updated to run on Windows 10 and 11, and have an updated rendering engine.
The original Sims will run at its original resolution, but players will be able to press Alt + Enter to cycle through various pixel scaling options to ensure the game looks best on their monitor.
Players will be able to copy over their old save files to the new versions, and EA says both games support original mods, but they haven’t all been tested and “it’ll be up to individual mod creators to ensure mods work with the new version” of each game.

Earlier this month, the official X account for The Sims posted a short video showing a roadmap of events designed to celebrate The Sims’ 25th anniversary.
Listed on the roadmap was an item called “Nostalgia Now”, alongside the dates January 27-31. For the past week it’s been teasing a re-release, with a retro-style website and other nostalgic messages.
The original version of The Sims has proved particularly tricky to play in the modern era because it was never released digitally, meaning players will have to find the original game disc from 2000, find a disc drive for their PC and search for user-created patches designed to get it running on today’s hardware.
Today’s announcement, then, marks the first ever digital release of The Sims.
