HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPJE)- The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested two Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants who were both wanted out of Harris County.
33-year-old Jorge Dionicio Hernandez and 30-year-old Omar David Zavala were both taken into custody on Friday, January 24; one in Houston and the other in Mesquite.
Officials reported that 33-year-old Jorge Dionicio Hernandez, a criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested in Houston by DPS Special Agents, along with the U.S. Homeland Security Investigatios and Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Hernandez had been wanted since January 2022 for indecency with a child by sexual conduct and had previous convictions for multiple counts of driving while intoxicated in 2009 in Harris County.
In July 2021, Hernandez was also arrested by the Houston Police Department for providing false identification but later bonded out.
The second arrest of a suspect from the Texas Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list was 30-year-old Omar David Zavala from El Salvador.
Officials reported that Zavala was arrested Friday, January 24 in Mesquite in a multi-agency operation with DPS Special Agents from the Texas Anti-Gang Center Houston along with U.S. Marshals Task Forces and the Dallas Police Department Drone Unit.
Zavala had been wanted in Harris County since 2022 for charges including sexual assault, terroristic threat, and obstruction/retaliation.
Zavala reportedly had multiple arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in 2014 and was removed from the United States in 2015, and was later arrested in May 2020 by the Houston Police Department for terroristic threat and obstruction/retaliation.
