Authorities have released the names of two people who were killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday near Watkins Glen.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 55-year-old Manjula Velikanti, and 61-year-old Prasad Velikanti, who were from India, according to their IDs.
The Velikantis were passengers in a car driven by their son, Anjani Velikanti, 30, also from India, sheriff’s investigators said.
Around 10:52 a.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of county Route 16 and county Road 17, south of Watkins Glen and west of Montour Falls, for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Manjula and Prasad Velikanti were pronounced dead at the scene. Anjani Velikanti was not injured and was issued a summons for allegedly failing to yield the right of way.
The driver and passenger of the other involved vehicle were not injured.
